You might have noticed the thumbnail—Native Instruments' Massive X. While the plugin isn’t the focus here, its visual representation of sound waves serves as a fitting entry point into something deeper: the nature of frequency, electricity, and what the term “binaural beat” means. This crosses through a lot of different territories, so be prepared.

Let’s go back twenty years ago. Right around the time I was finding an increasing interest in electronics and programming and such, I was also desperately trying to calm myself down, to get further acclimated towards this new, deliberate and constant thinking—stimulated near the forefront of the brain—overuse of that frontal lobe-type temperament to dissect complicated subjects (often called critical thinking)

Twenty years ago, if you were to look for meditation and self actualization, you would struggle to find anything. Even today, it isnt talked about as much as it probably should be. So, understandably so, the types of things you would’ve clicked on back then would have the terms “New Age”, “New Thought”, “New Dawn”, “Empathic Thinking”, “Starseed”, etc. right?… I believe it was something like that.

Alas, you may have an idea of what I mean when I say: we were getting into that sort of thing, a voyage through the spiritual side of things; Although I wouldnt give it too much credit. That's a whole nother story, and goes beyond the realm of our discussion.

Counter-related to this world, would be such things as “Cosmic Frequencies” and “Pure Tones” that I liked to look up on Youtube, such that I could tune into the universe, or what I would consider—even if just to convince myself that such a universal connection existed, centering and grounding, and trying best to stay present. I found a lot of religious connotations off putting, as I would’ve rather of meditated as my own individual, creating a factual interpretation, further isolating me from societal norms.
